The clippers I use are cordless for safety and are also very quiet which helps when it comes to nervous or young horses.
The choice of clip should be decided around the individual needs of the horse, the kind of work he is doing and your stable management system.
Traditional types of clip are:
- Hunter clip
- Blanket clip
- Trace clip
- To enable the horse to work hard without the extra stress which a heavy coat would
- To reduce sweating, thus helping to maintain condition.
- Prevent chills. Heavy coats hold the sweat and they dry slowly in cold weather.
- The horse will be easier to keep clean and will look smarter.
Plaiting A Mane
It is good to plait a mane so your horse or pony looks smart and tidy, plaiting the mane involves dividing the hairs into bunches, each bunch is plaited, folded under and fastened so that it lies in a small neat plait close to the crest.
Hogging A Mane
The advantage of hogging a mane is your horse or pony's neck will always look tidy and there will be no mane to get in the way of your hands when riding out.
Pulling A Mane
Pulling is a way of thinning and shortening
a long thick mane in order to make it neater, more
manageable and easier to plait. When pulling a
mane it involves me plucking strands of hair out of the mane.
Mane and tail tidying
Manes can be pulled to your requirements*
If you have got a horse that can be a little bit tricky no problem i can spend a bit of time with it and hopefully help it overcome its fear.
Feathers can be clipped with clippers for a almost perfect finish to your requirements, or they can be cut with scissors if you just want a quick tidy around the edges.
